       Dear Fellow Republicans:

                Since 1991, I have worked to build a Republican majority in the Texas
        Legislature.  Like most Republicans, I looked forward to the day that we
        would reach that goal and realize lower taxes and a smaller, more efficient
        government that protected our sovereign rights.  

               Since I left office in 1999, the Texas Legislature has passed the largest
        budgets in Texas history.  Legislators have increased taxes on business and
        allowed property taxes to grow at double-digit rates due to escalating
        appraisals.  Their inaction on illegal immigration has cost Texans billions of
        dollars in health care, education, and law enforcement.

                It is for these reasons that people from all over the Fourth Senate
        District have urged me to run for the State Senate. They know that I stood
        up for their conservative values when I served in the Senate and I will again.

                I have never been the favorite of Austin lobbyists or the media, and I
        don't expect to be in this race.  With your vote and support, we will carry our
        message to Austin: We demand leadership on these issues; and we will no
        longer tolerate go-along-to-get-along government from our legislature.

                Election Day is March 4th, and I need your help to get our message out.
